As if adventure travelers haven't got enough to worry about—blisters, Giardia, Moctezuma's revenge, anyone? Now some of us have travel itineraries that look like they were drawn up by the UN Security Council.

"Trouble Abroad," an article in the November/December ADVENTURE, gives handy tips on "vacationing" in volatile places. But should you really be visiting a place where the number two tip for travelers is "Know when to run"? Remember, the idea is to get off the beaten path, not to get beaten off the path.
