High Times on the Peyote Trail
 

A Huichol man stands stained with the blood of a bull he held down to be sacrificed.

"In San Andrés, on [the] third day of the fiesta, this man held down a sacrificial bull as its throat was slit. It jolted, and blood spewed out over the crowd.

"The people performing the sacrifice were concentrating so much, it didn't faze them. It's all over his face—almost as if he didn't wipe his eyes."
