| High and Dry in the Altiplano |
We were paddling in Chile in Lake Tuyajto where the elevation reached 13,000 feet (3,962 meters). The gusts of wind blew a heavy mist of water mixed with salt and borax, and we found ourselves coated head-to-toe with the white dust. In this photo you can see Wendy Madgwick's hands are white with the residue.
