"Walking through the medina in Tripoli one evening, I spotted a portrait of Qaddafi through a door to a small gallery. The moody lighting on the portrait of the colonel, high above the working-class shopkeeper [tucked into the left side of the frame] offered some insight to The Green Book, Qaddafi's magnum opus touting his Third Universal Theory, humbly written to solve the world's problems. Although the Libyans have a high standard of living compared to most African countries, the ability to improve personal economic standing is restricted by Qaddafi's government."
