Surfing the New El Salvador
"In El Salvador, new surfboards are so expensive that there are surfboard shops, like the Hospital de Tables in La Libertad pictured here, that fix up broken boards and then resell them. Sometimes you find local kids scavenging the beach for any material that can be reused for a surfboard. A lot of Americans intentionally bring along old boards to sell or donate to these shops."
