SOLAR EXPLORER: Cole's superhot project will bring back a piece of the sun.

What's big, hot, and up in the sky? The sun! We don't know much about the sun, but we do know that it is a big, burning gas ball that has never been explored. I am going to be the first person to float inside the sun.

I'll travel in a white X4 rocket with an exterior made from a mixture of polycarbonate and steel. The interior has a cockpit, an exercise room, a bathroom, a bedroom, and a kitchen. I'll bring my friend Naran, because he has a lot of book smarts, and a National Geographic camera crew. For supplies, we will bring dehydrated space food. We will need two super sun suits and super dark sunglasses. We will also need 15 million gallons of water.

To ensure the success of my journey, I will keep in contact with NASA's Mission Control. If the body of the ship gets too hot, we will return to Earth.

—Cole, 10
