"Canyoneering is about getting soaked, since you're following a water source through slots, down cliffs, and across pools carved over millions of years. In this shot, my son Logan, 19, is rappelling into Pine Creek, in Zion National Park, where the longest drop is 110 feet (33.5 meters). After contorting through the terrain for up to 12 hours a day, the aches set in, and my physical therapy skills came in handy."

Daniels, of Pleasanton, California, snared the top prize in the first Wild Angle Photo Contest of the Adventure in Travel Expo (www.adventureexpo.com). The six-city, Adventure-sponsored trade show will begin again in Dallas in October. Daniel's, who has topped out on Peru's Huayna Picchu and the 13,770-foot (4,197-meter) Grand Teton, won a trip for two to Belize.
