"I am pictured in the bow of a tandem sea kayak on an "exploratory" tour around Lofoten, Norway. We paddled north into the Tromso archipelago, camped on islands, used skerries for wind breaks, and stopped at a few fishing settlements to re-supply. On day seven, we reached the Arctic Circle. The water was cuh-cuh-cuh-cold, so those of us just developing our sea kayaking skills (that would be me) despaired of going for a swim. The second to last day was the summer solstice. We celebrated with cloudberries and cream and did a frog dance. To this day, I think this was a bit of our guides' revenge to stand back and watch as we pranced like Swedish school children, only vaguely aware of the words we were singing...."
