This is dinner aboard Swell one evening in northern Costa Rica. We had gone trolling with fishing rods behind my dinghy that afternoon. No luck, so we traded rods for spears and masks on our quest for dinner. Instead of finding fish to eat, I came face to face with a bull shark! Then we realized that, as soon as we caught a fish, we'd be towing around bleeding shark bait, so we made another attempt at fishing. On our last pass over the reef just outside the bay, Shannon hooked this beautiful little snapper, or pargo, as the locals call it. —Liz Clark
