Congo Photo Gallery: Expedition Bonobo The only jungle dwellers more mysterious than the Iyaelima people are the rare bonobo apes that live alongside them. Each morning while we were in the village of Anga, the DRC's national parks department (ICCN) guards staged an elaborate flag-raising ceremony. We believe that the flag raising was not a regular event here since, on the first morning the flag went up, it was upside down until the error was pointed out to the guards. —Photographer Robert J.
