Trekking into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the Virunga Mountains at the three-way border between Rwanda, the Congo, and Uganda we hiked for hours searching for signs of the endangered mountain gorillas. In this war-torn region, we hired a group of soldiers to protect us from the guerillas who use the jungle as a base of operation.
