"Life's an Adventure" Reader Photo Album: Cruising the Greek Isles
|

Reader: Neil Murray, 56, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada The Spot: Zakynthos in the Ionian Islands, Greece
The Moment: This beach on the Island of Zakynthos, part of the Ionian Islands off of the west coast of Greece, is one of the most photographed locations in the world. We could not believe that the colors would be anything like the photos we had seen, but were we very wrong. Taking this photo was quite literally a cliff hanger. Imagine standing out over a ledge that is at least 500 feet (152 meters) up from the sea and out over the edge on a small platform over the water. Now, imagine that the platform you are standing on is only the size of a standard kitchen table top. Yes, it had a railing, but the floor was a metal grill that you can see through. Do-It-Yourself: Find your way to London and then consider Kosmar Holidays, www.kosmar.co.uk, a company that provides packaged vacations to Greece and Turkey. We stayed at the Letsos Apartments (www.tk.com), just two minutes from an outstanding long sandy beach. There the best family-run beach walk-up café is called Amos. The Lemon Tree in town is open-air set among the lemon trees and serves outstanding seafood.
