I took this shot inside the Molokini Crater, a popular diving and snorkeling destination for residents and visitors to Hawaii.
Located about three miles
(5 kilometers) off the coast of Maui,
Molokini is a long-extinct, eroded cinder cone. Here, my dive buddy, Daniel Bramwell, is face-to-face with a monk seal known to enjoy interacting with the divers and snorkelers. The seal, affectionately called "Humpy," has been relocated a couple of times for his overly frisky conduct with people.Benja Iglesis, 36
"Almost every charter boat company in Maui
can take you to Molokini for a four- or six-hour trip. The best time to go is during winter (November through February), because the water is clear. For more information, go to www.mauiunderwater.com."
