The Bonneville Dam consists of several dam structures that together complete a span of the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. Located about 40 miles (64 kilometers) east of Portland, Oregon, in the Columbia River Gorge, the dam was built from 1933 to 1937 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the New Deal.
