"I came across a group of horsemen about 13 miles (20 kilometers) outside of the town of Moron. They were gathered to listen to the lamas recite sutras, dialogues of the Buddha, to bless the area and bring a good omen for the year to come.
"This blend of Shamanism and Buddhism found in parts of Mongolia is very relaxed and almost informal. After 70 years of it being banned under the Soviet regime, religious freedom has only been granted since the early 1990s. People are now rediscovering their religion."
