Sponsor is National Geographic Society, 1145 17th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036-4688 ("Sponsor" or "NGS").
TERM
The BVI Adventure Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") begins May 15, 2007, and ends August 15, 2007. Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, August 15, 2007.
WHO MAY ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States, excluding Puerto Rico, who are age eighteen (18) or above at the time of entry. Employees of National Geographic Society, BVI (British Virgin Islands Tourism), Continental Airlines and their agents, affiliates, and subsidiaries and their immediate family members are not eligible. Limit one entry per person.
HOW TO ENTER
This Sweepstakes is VOID IN PUERTO RICO AND WHERE PROHIBITED.
To enter, visit www.ngadventure.com and register online. No mail-in entries will be accepted for this sweepstakes.
In the event of a dispute, online entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. Potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the winning entry.
PRIZE
One Grand Prize: Trip for two to the British Virgin Islands. Grand Prize trip includes Bitter End's signature vacation experience–The Admiral's Package, includes eight days/seven nights with double-occupancy accommodations in either a Beachfront Villa or North Sound Suite; three meals daily at one of the two restaurants, with special theme dinners around the resort; and adventure activities. Other Terms and Conditions: Additional charges will include airport transfers, retail, Pub and bar purchases, plus an 18 percent BVI tax and service charge. Activities and watercraft that are not included: Bradley 22 powerboats and Freedom 30 charters; fishing, kiteboarding and diving; private lessons for sailing, windsurfing, etc., will also be an additional charge. Lobster at the meals is offered for an additional charge.
Prize includes coach-class airfare on Continental Airlines from major U.S. gateway cities. Winner and his or her travel companion are responsible for getting themselves to a major U.S. gateway service offering flights to BVI. Offer valid May 1 to December 20, 2007, and May 1 to December 15, 2008, excluding Thanksgiving Weeks; other restrictions may apply. Approximate Retail Value ("ARV") of Grand Prize is $5,500.
WINNER SELECTION
Winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries. Winner will be notified by email on or before August 30, 2007. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
RIGHT TO CANCEL OR SUSPEND CONTEST
If for any reason the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, due to bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual(s) who tampers with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Sweepstakes.
LIMITATION ON LIABILITY
Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to sweepstakes entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or mailed-in entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants' or any other persons' computers related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this sweepstakes.
CONDITIONS
Entries void if illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error or obtained through fraud or theft. Winner is required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and liability release within 15 days of receipt of prize notification. Noncompliance or return of prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of another winner. All prize claims are subject to verification and compliance with the official rules. Actual value of Grand Prize will vary depending upon point of departure and other contingencies. Any difference between actual cost and ARV will not be awarded. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or comparable value. Sponsor reserves the right to change or amend prize subject to availability. Prize is non-transferrable, non-refundable and has no cash value. Travel package is subject to availability at the time of reservation; allow at least three weeks for processing. All applicable airport taxes and other official charges are payable by the winner prior to ticketing. Winner is also responsible for any income or other taxes that may apply.
By participating, participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules.
Grand Prize excludes tips, fees, taxes, and all other expenses unless specifically identified above. Actual travel dates subject to Sponsor discretion and other conditions outside of Sponsor control. Grand Prize winner and his/her companion must travel together on the same itinerary. Grand Prize winner is responsible for obtaining all necessary documentation, including but not limited to U.S. State Department mandated immunizations, passport, visas, and any other trip permissions. By accepting the Grand Prize and taking the trip, Grand Prize winner and his/her guest each represent that they understand that travel contains some inherent element of risk of accident, illness, injury, loss, or death, which may be caused by negligence, forces of nature, wild animals, or other agencies, known or unknown; and further recognize that medical facilities may not be readily available or accessible during some or all of the trip. To be a prize winner and partake of this trip, potential Grand Prize winner and his/her guest must be willing to accept the risk and to confirm their acceptance of such risk in writing at Sponsor request. Participants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless National Geographic Society, BVI Tourism, Continental Airlines and their partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this Sweepstakes or any Sweepstakes-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder.
Participants agree (a) to be bound by these official rules; (b) that the decisions of Sponsor are final on all matters relating to the sweepstakes; and (c) if he/she wins, to the use of his/her name and or likeness (as well as the name and/or likeness of the travel companion) for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation (except in Tennessee and where prohibited by law) and upon request, to provide consent to such use in writing.
All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.
