Do I need to be from an indigenous or minority culture to apply?
No. But you will need to provide written or filmed documentation from a member of the community you are representing, giving you permission to speak for them.
If I am indigenous or a minority filmmaker, does the film need to be about my culture?
No. But the goal of our project is to present films that provide powerful insight through first-person storytelling about cultures.
How detailed should my application be?
The application should be detailed enough to project a confident and well-developed story idea to our reviewers. In addition to the required materials, feel free to include images, film clips, a script, or any other multimedia.
How many people look over my application for approval?
Our selection committee consists of 5 to 10 peers from the film community and 3 to 6 All Roads staff members.
Can I find out why my application was declined?
Due to the number of applications we receive, we are not able to discuss the decision process for declined applications.
Can I reapply for the grant with the same project?
Re-submissions will not be accepted but we encourage all-new project proposals. If we feel a proposal lacks information, we will request additional materials before making our decision. At that point, decisions will be final.
