Photo Tip #3: Don't photograph people in bright sunlight

Bright light hurts the eyes. It makes people squint and cry and hide behind sunglasses and generally become crabby and impatient. Always try to look for open shade—under a tree, in a doorway, anywhere that the light is softer. Your subjects will relax and be more natural. Also, shade is much more flattering to skin tones. And in the shade you will be able to see the most important part of a person…the eyes.
