Gray Wolves
These excellent runners hunt together in groups called packs. They chase their prey (often deer, elk, or moose) over long distances until the prey tires and they can attack it. The wolves wide paws (lower right) help them run through snow. Gray wolves also have good hearing (lower left) and communicate with other wolves in their pack by howling.
