Hippopotamuses

Huge hippopotamuses live near rivers, lakes, and streams in Africa. At night, hippos leave the water to feed on grasses. During the day, they stay in the water (at bottom), often resting with their heads poking up above the surface. Babies are born underwater and must swim to the surface immediately to breathe.
