Lions live in groups called prides. Only males have manes. Females are the main hunters in the pride. They band together and stalk prey such as zebras or wildebeest. Retractable claws (lower left) help the lions grasp prey, as well as run. Pads on their feet (lower right) help them stalk quietly.
