Hawaiian monk seal pups can swim soon after they are born, but they usually stay on shore with their mothers for the first six weeks. Some monk seals talk in their sleep. They make a noise that sounds like a tuba!
One seal in this picture (top right) is wearing a National Geographic Crittercam. Crittercams include video cameras and other information-gathering devices. These can be attached to animals without hurting them. Crittercams help scientists study the animals that wear them.
