 Pilot Whales
Pilot whales can swim as fast as 25 miles (40 kilometers) an hour. The U.S. Navy once trained a pilot whale to find and help bring up objects that are 1,600 feet (500 meters) underwater.
One pilot whale in this picture (bottom) is wearing a National Geographic Crittercam. Crittercams include video cameras and other information-gathering devices. They can be attached to animals without hurting them. Crittercams help scientists study the animals that wear them.
