Circa 800: Beginning of Viking Expeditions

Starting in the 800s, seafarers from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden set out in their famous square-sailed longships to explore (and pillage) coastal Europe. Their travels eventually bring them west to Iceland, Greenland, and North America; they are the first Europeans to set foot on these lands.
