Boston |

Perhaps no other city in the United States can rival Boston for history. Puritans from England settled here in the 1600s, and the city and its inhabitants played a major role in the American Revolution. That sense of history is alive and well (especially along the Freedom Trail, a walking tour that includes Paul Revere’s house and Bunker Hill Monument), but Boston today is a thoroughly modern city, full of world-class museums, theaters, and shops. It’s also a hub for education (with more than 20 colleges), medicine, and science.
