The major metropolis of the U.S. heartland, blustery Chicago explodes from the shore of Lake Michigan in a vertical rush of steel and glass. The skyline rivals New York’s and includes some of the 20th century’s most important architectural landmarks, such as the Sears Tower, the Western Hemisphere’s tallest building. Ground-level Chicago boasts something for everyone, including chic boutiques on Michigan Avenue, innovative theater, ethnic restaurants, professional teams of every major U.S. sport, lakeside beaches, and an unstoppable nightlife.
