This high mountain forest in the Front Range offers craggy peaks with canyons and passes and clear alpine lakes. Contains five wilderness areas. 788,333 acres [319,027.1 hectares]. Facilities include 737 campsites, hiking, boating, boat ramp, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, picnic areas, scenic drives, water sports, winter sports. Four campgrounds open all year; others open May-September. Back-country open July-October. Adjoins Rocky Mountain NP on east.
