Kayaking on Mirror Lake makes for a wonderful way to explore the area and soak in the scenery of Adirondack State Park. Thousands of glistening lakes like this one fill the 6.1 million acres (2.5 million hectares) of the park, which covers almost a third of New York State. Whether warm or frozen, the waterways of Lake Placid always promise adventure. In warmer months, the park's rivers and lakes provide great bass and trout fishing, while winters draw ice-skaters from far and wide.
