Do you have a winning shot? Send in your best photos—in categories like Animals/Wildlife, Travel, and Weather—for a chance to win a National Geographic Expeditions trip for two to the Galápagos Islands! The winning photo will also be featured in the December issue of National Geographic magazine.
This year, the Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest is all about you. Send in your photos, rate contest entries, see how your favorites are doing, and ask award-winning photographer and contest judge Jim Richardson your photography questions.
There's no question about one thing: To get the best shot, you need the best equipment. That's where Energizer comes in. Energizer® Ultimate Lithium AA and AAA batteries are the world's longest lasting batteries in high-tech devices. They last up to eight times longer than Energizer® MAX® in digital cameras (results vary by camera)—which means you can take your mind off your batteries and focus on capturing that winning photo.
The Grand Prize winner has been chosen! Check out the 2009 Winner's Gallery.
Judging the contest again this year will be award-winning photographer Jim Richardson, whose work has graced the pages of National Geographic and other publications. Curious about how pros like Jim get such amazing shots? Read his top ten tips and tricks.
Ask award-winning National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson your questions about photography. Read his answers to some of the emails we receive.

I've done a lot of stupid things in my time and while shooting Mount St. Helens for a story on the 20th anniversary of the eruption, I stayed too long. Now it was dark and my flashlight was, well, dead with an hour hike back down the mountainside to my vehicle. I robbed my flash unit of a couple of Energizer® Lithium batteries and was never so thankful as to see my flashlight spring to life. Walking back, I vowed to never be so stupid again. (I wish I could say that I’ve carried through on that.)
