Friday, November 16, 2001

Dr. Paul Sereno, University of Chicago paleontologist and National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence will open an exhibit on SuperCroc. This model of the fossil remains of an enormous crocodilian that lived 110 million years ago in the African Sahara will be at Explorers Hall until January 1, 2002.

Nicknamed “SuperCroc,” the animal is believed to have reached 40 feet (12 meters) in length—the length of a city bus—making it one of the largest crocs that ever lived. SuperCroc lived alongside dinosaurs, perhaps feasting on them.
