The Memorial Day weekend release of Touchstone Pictures blockbuster movie Pearl Harbor and the 60th anniversary of the attack later this year is sparking widespread interest in what really happened on December 7, 1941. To help people understand the true events of that fateful day and commemorate the real heroes that inspired the movie, nationalgeographic.com, working with Second Story Interactive Studios (www.secondstory.com), has created a first-of-its-kind interactive experience to tell the story like never before.

Interactive Attack Map: Building on the unique strengths of the interactive medium, this first-of-its-kind Attack Map allows visitors to explore the battle minute-by-minute, target-by-target, and experience the intensity of the day's events in a way that only this medium allows. Attack Map users can zoom in on areas of Oahu, navigate the site through the timeline, or simply watch the events of the fateful day unfold as they happened. Original U.S. and Japanese footage, historic photographs, moving music, first-hand tales, and narration bring the attack to life, providing a vivid account of those heroic and tragic events.
Online Memory Book: The Memory Book launches with truly personal tales of heroism. With more than 200 submissions to date, the Memory Book continues to grow daily with moving entries from survivors, relatives of soldiers who were there, civilians who witnessed the attack, and people that where touched in some way by the event. In addition to being able to read and submit thoughts, Memory Book users can search the database by location and keywords, including names of people who were in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. A separate World Online Talk Board has been created to provide kids an opportunity to share their thoughts on Pearl Harbor in a kid-friendly environment.
National Geographic: Beyond the Movie: Anchored by a series of all-new television documentaries, National Geographic: Beyond The Movie, is an innovative multi-media initiative created to complement todays feature films and explore the most compelling real-life questions that movies inspire. The first show, debuting on the National Geographic Channel on May 27, will be devoted to the Pearl Harbor attack portrayed in Touchstone Pictures film Pearl Harbor.
