Qu Jiuhui obtained his Ph.D. in engineering and works as a Research Fellow and Academician for the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Currently, he holds the position of Director of the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Qu Juihui's research is focused on water pollution control, especially theory, technology, and engineering applications relating to drinking water quality and safety. He achieved a number of innovations in transforming water that contains toxic and hazardous substances, water quality risk control, and pollution control. He has published three books and more than 390 papers in academic scientific journals. He owns more than 30 Chinese and international patents, and led the completion of a number of important water pollution control and water purification projects.
Qu Jiuhui also serves as Vice President of All-China Environment Federation, Vice Chairman of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, Vice Chairman of Chinese Society for Sustainable Development, Member of The National Environmental Advisory Committee, and Executive Director of the International Water Association (IWA). He is a winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, an academic leader of National Creative Research Groups, and the chief scientist of National Basic Research Program of China. He has received two second-place prizes of National Science and Technology Progress, seven provincial and ministerial Science and Technology Awards, one Science and Technology Progress Award from The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, and two International Innovation Project Awards.
