The National Geographic Society has been awarding grants since 1890. Fulfilling its mission to increase and diffuse geographic knowledge, over 9,000 grants have been awarded.

This downloadable interactive map illustrates the breadth of the Society's support of research, conservation, and exploration as we strive to inspire people to care about the planet. Many stories have been told as a result of these investigations—many remain to be told.
