Filling a basin sunk between parallel faults, northern Kenya’s Lake Turkana lies along the eastern branch of Africa’s rift system. Satellite imagery made in 1973, 1979 and 1989 captures clearly the fault lines and monitors the growing delta of the Omo River, feeding into the lake form the north.
