Channel your inner Bedouin and go on a camel safari in the Negev desert. Spend the night at Kfar Hanokdim, an oasis of a lodge located between Arad and Masada that has camels as well as comfy digs. You could hike the desert, but being atop a camel gives you a better feel for the pace of the place and makes it easier to cover ground in this harsh environment. You stop along the way at Bedouin settlements and meet the locals. Dinner back at Kfar Hanokdim is a feast of lamb, rice, salads, vegetables, spiced Bedouin tea or Turkish coffee, and sumptuous sweets. Among the workshops offered here: belly dancing.
