"A good lightning photograph is one that conveys the images of power. But it can also convey the image of something gentle. A single lightning bolt over a beautiful landscape can be just as stunning in its own way.

"A lot of people have equated storm chasing and lightning photography to a hunt, where you actually go out and stalk your prey, which in this case is lightning. And then I guess the lightning photographs are the trophies on the wall.

"What I like best about lightning photography is in that one split second you've put something very unique on film that will never be repeated again exactly. It's almost like I'm capturing a snowflake; none of them are ever the same."
