About Our Writer Here at 18,300 feet (5576 m), the air is thin and my head aching. The mountain is Pichu Pichu in southern Peru. Our team—a group of Peruvian archaeologists and corporate sponsors from Bell Sygma of Canada—are led by high mountain archaeologists Johan Reinhard and José Antonio Chávez.
