3.  EARTHQUAKE
Many experts think New York is long overdue for a magnitude 5 or higher, and the likely suspect could be Cameron’s Line or any number of small faults. The utilities underground would be a shambles in any serious quake. Aged cast-iron pipes would crumble, tunnels collapse, gas mains flame up, and reclaimed land become liquid.
