Where there is not enough water to carry all the dirt and silt out of a hot spring, it can become a mud pot. Steam bubbles churn the mud into a weird brown glop that looks like chocolate milk or send it leaping like frogs in a pond. Some mud pots sound like croaking frogs, too.
