Champs 2000 Winner: Felix Peng

Felix Peng, 13, of Guilford, Connecticut, is this year's National Geographic Bee champion. Second place went to 12-year-old George Thampy, of St. Louis, Missouri, and in third place was Jonathan Janus, of Ravenel, South Carolina.

Felix is in the 8th grade at Elisabeth Adams Middle School in Guilford. This was his second trip to the National Geographic Bee finals as he was also the Connecticut state champion in 1999. His interest in geography began when his parents showed him their birthplace, Taiwan, on a globe. He plays the cello and is a member of the Junior National Honor Society.

Winning question: Name two of the three largest sections of Denmark, which include its mainland peninsula and two largest islands

Answer: Jutland, Sjaelland and Fyn
