Visitors brave blustery winds atop Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock, a soaring precipice 1,982 feet (604 meters) above Lysefjord in southwestern Norway. Carved by glaciers in the last ice ages about 10,000 years ago, this scenic fjord spans about 25 miles (40 kilometers), and reaches depths of 1,385 feet (422 meters).
