How do I apply for a job at National Geographic?
Why do I have to register to apply for a job?
Registering will give you the ability to save jobs to your Careers page, apply for positions and to save search criteria. You will also have the ability to create a user profile which will enable you to save multiple versions of your resume to your Careers page, making it easier for you to apply for positions or to update your profile information for future openings.
If I do not have a resume, may I fill out an application?
In order to apply for an open position, you must submit a Cover Letter & Resume, and complete an Online Application for each opening. NOTE: Once you complete the Online Application and save it, your information will automatically fill in the fields for the next application. However, if you add further details to subsequent applications, the system does not update previously submitted applications for earlier positions.
May I send my resume by fax or mail?
No. The application process for National Geographic is through the online site only. If you are contacted for an interview, we encourage you to bring a hard copy of your cover letter and resume to share with Human Resources and the hiring manager.
Why am I prompted to fill out additional information when I apply for some jobs but not for others?
Sometimes additional information is needed in order to determine eligibility. It is important to answer these questions to be considered further as an applicant for the position.
May I submit a cover letter, addressed to a specific individual, with my resume?
The cover letter is an excellent opportunity to further clarify your interest in the position and briefly outline your qualifications. It is not necessary to address your cover letter to a specific individual, because your application is connected to the specific position in which you are interested. It is stored within the central database. You may, however, store several resumes and cover letters within your personal profile and title them differently (for example, Production Resume; Art Design resume, etc.) to use when there is an appropriate match.
How do I know if you have received my resume via online application form?
Once you have completed the application process (including Cover Letter, Resume and the Online Application) for a specific position, a message will indicate that you have successfully submitted your job application. This message is your confirmation. You may also click on the "View All" next to Applications in the "My Career Tools" section of your Careers Home page.
If a problem occurs during the transmission of your online application, you will receive an error message and the reason for the problem.
