June 5, 1806, at Camp Chopunnish, Idaho County, Idaho.
 

Description
A large clumping grass with silver gray foliage. Evergreen; drought tolerant. Height: 1-5 ft (0.6-1.5 m). Width: 1-2 ft (0.6-0.9 m).
 

Habitat
In ditches and in sandy soil of moderate moisture content.
