Biography

“Pepe La Fleur, a Manouche, sits on the steps of his colorfully painted roulotte [wagon]. He was a professional boxer, but that was many years ago. With 68 grandchildren, he is king of a clan and a devout Catholic. Pepe travels all over France, selling religious icons carved in wood. We are old friends, often eating together in the shade of his roulotte.”
