I met Nigel Dickinson two years ago in France and we talked about his photographs of French Gypsies. His passion for the subject impressed me; so did his ability to persuade the Gypsies to accept him so deeply. The result is almost a family albuman
insiders look at the lives of these extraordinary people and the ceremonies that help
preserve their identity. It's a good example of a photographers ability to let his
subjects reveal themselves on their own terms.
