Photographer Nick Koudis didn’t really take sardines to the Madison Avenue subway stop, but he did use real fish! First, he built a set using an enlarged photo of a subway station. Then he made tiny props such as briefcases for the fish. The process took a month. “Shooting the picture was smelly, but fun!” he says. “It's like telling a joke thousands of people enjoyed.”
