Fiji Reef
Anthia fish swim past brilliant blooms of soft coral off Fiji's Namena Island. Algae called zooxanthellae give corals not only their color but also much of their nutrients. When water temperatures grow too warm, the algae abandon the coral. Unlike hard corals, soft corals don't leave a limestone skeleton behind and cannot regenerate.
