TRICK ARMS

Some octopuses resort to a very serious trick. They break off an arm and scoot away! The arm keeps wriggling for hours, sometimes crawling all over an attacker and distracting it while the octopus gets away. The octopus grows a new arm out of the stump.

DISAPPEARING ACT

If there's no chance to squirt ink and scoot away, warn off an attacker, blend in to hide, or any of the other wizard tricks octopuses have up their arms, a handy shell provides a good hiding place!
