Introduction | Questions: Part I | Questions: Part II

GETTING WHAT HE DESERVES
NGK: If Mr. Snicket could choose a punishment for Count Olaf, what would it be?
DH: Mr. Snicket, like myself, is a nonviolent person, so it's hard to think of a punishment. Maybe forcing Count Olaf to do the orphans' laundry for the rest of his life would be suitable.

SEE THIS MOVIE WITH CAUTION!
NGK: What can you tell me about the upcoming movie about the Baudelaire orphans?
DH: The plan is that the movie will be out at Christmas 2003. It will probably be a miserable film, so I'm hoping that it will be called This Theater Is Closed. That way you'll think the theater is closed, and you won't see it.

LIFE OF UNHAPPINESS?
NGK: Will the Baudelaire orphans ever get out of their misery?
DH: It seems that they're always getting out of their misery, but it's just for a very short period of time. I certainly hope that the cycle will stop, although it's hard to wish eternal happiness on someone. I mean, it would get kind of boring if only good things happened to you, don't you think?
