Ancient Egyptians believed in life after death. Wealthy Egyptians made careful preparations for their dead by mummifying their bodies and providing them with tombs supplied with equipment, food, clothing, ornaments, furniture, statues of gods, and workerseverything they would need in their new lives.

This model is based in part on tombs from the New Kingdom, dating from approximately 1,539 B.C. to 1,075 B.C. The model contains a mummy case, statues, jewelry, and everyday household objects. On the walls are paintings showing the deceased person's journey to the kingdom of Osiris. |
